Soham, Frenaz win Ranking TT titles

Ahmedabad: Ninth-seed Soham Bhattacharya upset second-seed Shlok Bajaj, the winner of the last state ranking TT meet, 4-2 to capture the men’s title at the 4th Gujarat State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2022 in Valsad on Thursday.
Top-seed Frenaz Chipia of Surat hardly broke a sweat in her victory over city mate Filzah Kadri 4-2 to take home yet another women’s trophy.
In the most eagerly-awaited final of the day, third-seed Riya Jayswal defeated her elder sister Namna to capture the junior girls (U-19) title.
Even though Shlok lost the men’s final, he still ended up with a double crown as he won the junior boys (U-19) final by blanking Pratham Madlani of Vadodara 4-0 and then pocketing the U-15 boys title by humbling Arman Shaikh of Aravilli 4-1.
Ahmedabad’s Pratha Pawar too won double crown by winning the junior girls (U-17) and U-15 titles by beating Riya and Nidhi Prajapati respectively.
