AHMEDABAD: A crime branch team nabbed a vehicle thief and recovered seven stolen bikes from north Gujarat. Officials believe that more vehicle thefts might be detected during questioning.
According to investigators, a team got a tip-off on Mahesh Rabari alias Batlo, a resident of Gota, that he was coming to Haveli near Vastrapur lake on Wednesday. On the basis of that, the officials kept a watch and nabbed him with a stolen bike with a Mehsana registration number.
"During his questioning, we found out that he used to steal bikes from the city and sell them outside the district.

He would say they were vehicles seized by companies and used to sell them without documents. We have recovered seven bikes from places such as Diyodar, Tharad and Patan. With this, we solved five cases of theft from Vastrapur and one each from Navrangpura and Satellite," said a crime branch official. The officials said that the total value of vehicles is estimated at around Rs 1.48 lakh.
In a similar incident, a team of Gujarat University police station nabbed two youths in connection with vehicle thefts and has recovered four vehicles.
