AHMEDABAD: A metropolitan court on Tuesday sent Sadhvi Jaishree Giri of Banaskantha district to two-day police remand for jumping bail even as Gujarat high court reserved its order on her bail application till Wednesday.
After her arrest from near Udaipur, city crime branch demanded 10-day custodial interrogation of the sadhvi, to find who was responsible in helping her flee from her police escort on November 15.

However, as the sadhvi had accused crime branch cops of custodial torture, the court had deferred proceedings on the remand application and sent her for a medical check up and then to judicial custody.
The hearing on her bail applications in connection with two FIR registered against her for cheating and criminal intimidation ended on Tuesday. The state government strongly opposed her bail. The complainant in cases against the sadhvi argued that she had obtained temporary bail from the high court on medical grounds, but had gone to watch a film on the last day of her bail period. She then gave the police team escorting her during her bail period the slip.
Four police personnel and two others were arrested after the sadhvi jumped bail. They were released on bail last week.
