AHMEDABAD: The city police have announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for any information that may lead to the identity of the criminals who killed corporate executive
Dilip Patel, 27, outside Auda garden in Bodakdev on November 12.
Additional commissioner of police J K Bhatt said the reward is specifically meant for the police to encourage them to work harder to solve this murder case.
The reason behind the award offer is that the police have not been able to make any headway in the murder probe so far. The top brass of the city police have also roped in the crime branch to investigate the case. The police have questioned Dilip's friend, Jagruti Parte, who was sitting with him when two persons approached them and drew Dilip to the side before shooting him once in the stomach. Dilip died before he could be rushed to the hospital by paramedics.
The police had initially investigated the possibility of a romantic angle to the murder. "We initially thought that the killing was linked to Dilip's suspected romantic involvement with Jagruti but Dilip was married. Hence, this line of investigation did not yield any results even after the girl was questioned for three days," a police official said.
Now the police are exploring the possible of financial and personal enmity. "Dilip worked as a relationship manager at a private share trading company. We are now probing into financial transactions in which Dilip may have been involved. The other factors that we are considering are whether he had got into any financial transaction in a personal capacity," said police inspector MK Rana of Vastrapur police station.
"We are also investigating Dilip's reputation at Ognaj where he was staying at a rented accommodation. Dilip originally hails from Bayad in Sabarkantha district. A police team had been to Bayad to probe that angle too," Rana said.
