AHMEDABAD: Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janta Dal may have distanced itself from the UPA, but its Gujarat unit has decided to support Congress.
The RJD Gujarat chief Aslam Malik addressed a joint press conference with the Gujarat Pradesh Congress chief Siddharth Patel and said that he has taken the approval of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad. He said that to keep NDA away, RJD in Gujarat decided to support Congress.
"We will support Congress candidates on all 26 seats in the state."
He said that RJD wanted to see Manmohan Singh as the prime minister again. He also claimed that RJD already has its organisational set up in 10 districts and has its workers in the remaining 16 districts.
Siddharth Patel said that the RJD was part of UPA and it would continue to do so, even if Prasad was sharing dias with the third front. This coalition was just to keep the parties which are involved in dividing the society. He said that RJD has decided not to have a single candidate in Gujarat.
