Ahmedabad: Riyan Parag missed a well-deserved century but he ensured Assam managed to hold Saurashtra in their Ranji Trophy match in Guwahati. Trailing Saurastra by 206 runs in their first innings, Assam resumed the fourth day on 115 for one and were 366 for six when the stumps were drawn. Riyan scored 95, while Sibsankar Roy and Kunal Saikia chipped in with 75 and 60 respectively. Prerak Mankad took three for 31 for Saurashtra, while Kushang Patel, Chetan Sakariya and Dharmendrasinh Jadeja took one wicket each.
Saurashtra on the basis of their first-innings lead took three points from the drawn match, while Assam got one point. Saurashtra will next play Maharashtra in Rajkot.
Gujrata-Tripura match drawn
The Gujarat-Tripura match ended in a draw in Agartala. Chasing a target of 212, Tripura finished the day at 116 for three. Gujarat resumed their second innings at 204 for six on Friday but after Priyank Panchal got out for 85 they declared the innings at 233 for eight. Arjan Nagwaswalla took two quick wickets and Tripura never got close to the target.
Abhimanyu’s ton in drawn tie
Baroda scored a mammoth 624 for eight in their first innings in the drawn match against Odisha in Cuttack. Abhimanyu Rajkot scored 102 as Baroda surpassed the Odisha’s first-innings score of 457 on the Friday morning. Baroda secured three points from the match, while Odisha got one.
