Babu Bhalani, 64, a native of Gir Somnath, was admitted to the hospital for treatment of the arterial blockage in that left leg that was causing him immense pain. His son, Raju Bhalani, said that the surgery was conducted on Saturday and the hospital authorities asked them on Monday to prepare for discharge.

“When I showed my papers to the doctor who was approving the discharge procedure, he told me that my father was operated in the wrong leg,” Raju said.

Dr RK Patel, medical superintendent of the hospital, denied any negligence by the doctors. He said that the patient had the problem of blockage in both the legs. Hence, he was also operated in the right leg. tnn
