got out cheaply but Saurashtra ended the Day One of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match against Odisha here in a comfortable position. At the stumps on Thursday, Saurashtra were 325 for four. Chirag Jani and Arpit Vasavada were unbeaten on 125 and 51 respectively.
Cheteshwar Pujara could only last for six balls as he was dismissed by medium-pacer Debabrata Pradhan for eight. Sheldon Jackson scored 75, while Harvik Desai made 38. Jayanta Behera took two wickets while Basant Mohanty and Debabrata Pradhan took one each.

In Rajkot, Gujarat recovered from a poor start to post a respectable 334 for six at the stumps on first day of the match against Kerala. Het Patel (146 not out) and Karan Patel (120) scripted the turnaround for Gujarat who were tottering at 33 for four after being asked to bat first.
Het and Karan added 234 runs for the sixth wicket and the stand put Gujarat in a position of strength. For Kerala, MD Nidheesh took four for 30.
