Porbandar election results 2024 live updates: BJP's Mansukh Mandaviya wins
NEW DELHI: The Porbandar constituency in Gujarat witnessed a closely contested election, with Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya of the Bharatiya Janata Party emerging victorious. Mandaviya secured 633,118 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Lalit Vasoya of the Indian National Congress, by a margin of 383,360 votes. Vasoya received 249,758 votes.
Other candidates in the fray included N. P. Rathod of the Bahujan Samaj Party, who polled 10,922 votes, and several independent candidates. Nathabhai Bhurabhai Odedra, an independent candidate, secured 7,296 votes, while Lakhansi Odedara of the Viro Ke Vir Indian Party received 3,163 votes. Solanki Jatin Dhirubhai and Sodha Hushenbhai Alibhai, both contesting as independents, polled 2,486 and 2,435 votes, respectively.
Other independent candidates, such as Rathod Chandubhai Mohanbhai, Jethava Bipinkumar Bhikhalal, and Mahemudbhai Saiyad, received 1,729, 797, and 1,029 votes, respectively. Shekhava Nileshkumar Ramjibhai of the Samajwadi Party secured 1,609 votes, and Sidhhapara Harsukhlal Jivanbhai of the Log Party received 1,072 votes. The NOTA (None of the Above) option was chosen by 13,563 voters in the constituency.
The Porbandar Lok Sabha constituency is one of the twenty six parliamentary constituencies in the state of Gujarat. The polling day for Gujarat was scheduled for May 7, which is Phase 3 of Lok Sabha elections.
The Election Commission of India announced the dates for the Lok Sabha elections on March 16.
The parliamentary seat of Porbandar recorded a voter turnout of 51.83%, according to data released by the Election Commission.
Established in 1977, it is a general category parliament seat. It includes the assembly segments of Gondal, Jetpur, Dhoraji, Porbandar, Kutiyana, Manavadar, Keshod.
For the 2024 elections, the key candidates contesting from Porbandar include BJP led by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and the Congress led by Lalit Vasoya.
The date of counting and announcement of results for the Porbandar Lok Sabha constituency is June 4.
In the 2019 general election, Rameshbhai Lavjibhai Dhaduk of BJP emerged victorious with 563,881 votes. Lalit Vasoya was the runner-up with 3,34,058 votes.
In 2014 general election Vitthalbhai Hansrajbhai Radadiya emerged victorious by 5,08,437 votes while his counterpart Kandhalbhai Sarmanbhai Jadeja from NCP received 2,40,466 votes.
