Playback of city's glorious history
AHMEDABAD: "Aav aav hu tane kahish aa sheher ni kahani" (Come I will tell you the story of this city) says an obsolete chimney of Calico Mill. Who would be a better protagonist to recite the story of the Janjarmaan (majestic) city of Ahmedabad, than the chimney that overlooked the destruction and construction of Ahmedababd for over 150 years?
The story, with strong performances and a typical bhavai style, took the audience on a lingering journey from Karnavati to Ashavali and finally to Ahmedabad regaling the city's past, in sharp contrast to the diminishing present of the pols.

The dilemmas and frustration of former residents of pols was beautifully showcased by actors when one said to the other "I am frustrated, being confined in a small room on the other side of the city. I miss my community and the social interactions with everyone. I feel alien in that place but I have to stay with my son"
The play then went on to dwell on pieces of Ahmedabad's pride from its community living, to rain-water harvesting to each gem of architecture and faith, with an effort to remind viewers the importance the walled city played in shaping its citizens identity. It final closing with citizens jubilant celebrating Ahmedabad's acceptance as a World Heritage City.
