“The house was more than 70 years old and a portion of the first floor had been weakened due to want of regular maintenance,” said an AFES official. “A man was trapped inside the debris. He was extricated by firemen. We cleared the road in a matter of 30 minutes.”
The second collapse occurred in Dariyapur. A part of a closed housed crumbled at 2 am on Monday. According to AFES officials, the house in Ika Bhatt ni Pol had been unoccupied for some time. People living in the vicinity of the house woke up with a start when they heard a loud sound. The old house was partially made of wood.
AFES officials said that this monsoon they have recorded more than 10 structure collapse cases; half of them in the walled city.
