Ahmedabad: A woman accused a businessman from Paldi of grabbing control of her husband’s wholesale vegetable business through fraud.
Pinal Prajapati, a resident of Panchsheel Avenue in Paldi, told Vastrapur police that her husband Atul Prajapati had established a brand, Wholesale Hub, which sold vegetables to 11 stores in the city. “In 2019, his friend introduced him to
Rashmin Majithia, a businessman of organic vegetables.
Majithia showed an interest in the business. He promised to pay off our business loan of Rs 4.6 crore and put in Rs 3.3 crore to buy entire stock of vegetables. He also promised to pay Rs 2 lakh monthly and handle our expenses in exchange for running the business. My husband agreed, and Majithia gave us Rs 75 lakh as token. He also employed 127 of our staff members,” she said.
On April 1, 2019, Majithia took over the business. “He stopped paying us/ He neither paid the loan nor the money for the stock of vegetables. When my husband asked for the money in April 2020, Majithia told him that he could not manage the money due to Covid lockdowns. When my husband repeatedly demanded the money, Majithia got bouncers to attack him in August 2021,” the complaint stated.
The police filed an FIR of breach of trust, cheating and criminal conspiracy against Majithia and his two aides.
