VADODARA: Several paan shops in the city were raided on Monday by the police and civic authorities after it came to their notice that some of them were selling cigarette packets that did not carry the statutory warning — 'cigarette smoking is injurious to health'.
A letter was sent to city police commissioner P C Thakur by VMC health department chairman Hitendra Patel seeking his intervention.

Paan shops were raided, but the shop owners were let off after a warning. Along with city-based NGO Faith Foundation and city police, the civic body will take up the drive this week against all those shops selling cigarettes without the statutory warning.
