AHMEDABAD: Over 20 students from Gujarat have made it to the seven Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) across the country, of which four got into IIM-A and there could be more. Two of these students are from Ahmedabad. And there are the likes of Krunal Patel, who got calls from all IIMs, but IIM-A."The average number of candidates who make it to at least one of the IIMs in the past few years is around 20 and we are hoping it would be the same this year.
More will be clear as and when the institutes declare their list, as has been done by IIM-Bangalore," said Hitesh Devalia, from a CAT training institute in Ahmedabad.
Students selected for IIM-A will also be soon able to access the formula which will tell them the exact fee that they will have to pay. The formula will be uploaded on the website. IIM-A has declared that the maximum fee charged to any student will be Rs 12.5 lakh. "The institute has decided to give fee waivers to only those students who ask for it. It will not be like last year, where the institute did not have the time to ask students, but offer the waiver compulsorily. The batch admitted in 2008 June had 62 per cent students who got some waiver of which 21 students paid no fee at all. We are expecting the number of students accepting waivers to decrease this year marginally with the option of not accepting it available," said Satish Deodhar, the faculty in-charge of admissions.
