Gold and silver, diamond-studded ornaments were stolen from the residence of Chintan Shah in Ellisbridge. A complaint in this regard has been registered at the Ellisbridge police station by Shah. The house was burgled on Tuesday between 12.30 pm and 5.30 pm, when he had gone out. The thieves had entered the house by breaking the lock on main door and got away with Rs 1.85 lakh worth of valuables.
23-year-old man commits suicide: Govind Prajapati, 23, a resident of Odhav allegedly committed suicide as he was unemployed. On Tuesday evening he hanged himself with the help of a dupatta. The Odhav Police has registered a case and is probing the matter.
Biker thief held: A man who had stolen six bikes was caught by the crime branch officials on Wednesday. The accused, Sakirhussain Asgarali, a resident of Gomtipur, was nabbed riding a stolen bike by cops. He disclosed that he used to work with his father in his shop. However, recently he befriended Riyazuddin Ansari, an autorickshaw driver who stays in Gomtipur. The duo got into bad habits and often spent huge amounts of money on food and drinks. They borrowed money to keep up with his expensive habits. When the money lenders started pestering him for money, he and Riyazuddin decided to steal two-wheelers. According to the confession, he had stolen all the bikes from different locations in Vatva and Isanpur.
