AHMEDABAD: The Indian Railways has approved three road overbridges — two at Khodiyar and one on the Kolavada-Gandhinagar highway. These will be built at a cost of Rs 341 crore.

Railway officials said the railway ministry announced the three new road overbridges in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. The one on the Khodiyar-Gandhinagar section will be built at a cost of Rs 101 crore. It will be a four-lane bridge and will serve vehicles from Gandhinagar city, Kalol, Vavol, the GIDC area and Pethapur village.

Railway officials said the second bridge, between Khodiyar and Gandhinagar, will also be a four-lane one. This Rs 120 crore bridge will serve the people of Gandhinagar city, Pethapur village and Randheja.

The third bridge will be between Kolavada and Gandhinagar and will cost Rs 120 crore. It has also been designed as a four-lane bridge keeping in mind the future increase in traffic. It will ease movement for people coming from Vavol, Uvarsad, Adalaj, Gandhinagar city, Sertha and Zundal.
