AHMEDABAD: Dressed to kill is becoming a mantra for city-based bouncers. Gone are the rustic looks and brazen behaviour. Now these beefcakes and feared he-men are looking strikingly different in their bandanas and army fatigues. These days, bouncers are a rage in major city events, VIP parties and for celebrity security in Ahmedabad and are hard to miss.
Tall and imposing, Ishwar Singh Rajput, 30, a bouncer for the last three years, says, "Looks do matter.

We need to be look distinctly different from the crowd. Though we have a good physique, eye-catching dressing is a must for us. It enhances our presence in the jostling crowd."
These trained bouncers, who need to flex their muscles and look tough, have the ability to sniff out trouble and take prompt action. "When celebrities are under our vigil, they have to strictly toe our guidelines and follow our instructions religiously. Each celebrity has his/her own eccentricity. Some love to chat with us while others are aloof. But this hardly matters since our job is to safeguard them from getting mobbed," Rajput says.
Ganesh Kurhekar, co-director of Suraksha, Investigation & Security Force, says, "English-speaking and well-educated bouncers are most preferred and looked after. Also, we conduct a background check before hiring bouncers in order to avoid complications in future."
"Having a professional look is of utmost importance in this business. Moreover, we prefer to have bouncers with good dressing sense," Kurhekar adds.
Rahul Tomar, another city-based bouncer for the last five years, who also runs Jassi Health Club, says, "It is very important to dress well, along with a well-toned and muscled body. We make sure our bouncers wear blue jeans and black T-shirts in events and in party circuits to give them a professional look."
