Nikol youth hangs himself

AHMEDABAD: A 21-year-old youth committed suicide in

Nikol

on Sunday by hanging himself from a hook with his shirt. Police believe that the reason behind the suicide could be damage to his mobile phone’s screen and he was afrain of a scolding by his parents.

, 52, a resident of Ashwamedh Society, Nikol, had reported that his son, Anand, 21, had committed suicide at 6:50 pm on Sunday. Anand’s body was found on the second floor of the residence at 1 pm.

“Anand used to press clothes for living,” a police officer said.

“He had bought a mobile phone recently with his savings. The phone’s touchscreen had got damaged and needed replacement. From the statement of the family members, it can be inferred that he was afraid of a scolding for the damage and this might have driven him to end his life. Further probe is on,” the police officer said.
