New panel to plan Narmada yatra, utsav

GANDHINAGAR: The Gujarat government on Tuesday announced the formation of three committees of ministers and officers, under the chairmanship of deputy chief minister Nitin Patel, to plan and organize

and

utsav

, to mark the completion of work on the Narmada dam. The committees will look after state and district-level planning and other features of the event. Most ministers and about a dozen top IAS officers have been appointed to the different committees.

The yatra will be likely be take a week or two, mainly covering Saurashtra and other command areas of the Narmada dam. The Gujarat government has written to the Prime Minister’s Office (

PMO

) seeking a date for the valedictory function, which will most likely be held at the Narmada dam site in August.
