AHMEDABAD: Anura Begum, 45, a resident of Agra was murdered in cold bold allegedly by her son-in-law,
Ravi Chauhan, and his associate named Vikki on Friday afternoon at Naroda.
The accused still are on the run. It is suspected Ravi, who had married Begam’s daughter, Chandni, about three years ago, had differences with Begum.
According to Naroda police, Ravi and Chandni had fallen in love about four years ago in Agra and one year later they had tied knot.
“After marriage, they shifted to Ahmedabad and were currently living in Swaminarayan Apartment in Naroda,” said a police official.
Police said sometime back, Chandni had told her mother about her recent disputes with Ravi.
“Begum came down to Ahmedabad to settle things between her daughter and Ravi about two days back. On Friday Chandni, who had gone out for some household work, found the house locked when she returned. On breaking the lock, she found her mother’s dead with her throat slit,” said a police official.
Police officials said both Ravi and his friend, Vikki, are missing and they suspect Ravi could have murdered his mother-in-law. “However the exact reason behind the murder can only be known when Ravi is found,” said a senior police official.
