Nagori, who was arrested along with 13 other SIMI leaders in Indore on March 27, is in Rewa Central Jail after he was shifted from Indore Central jail. After the July 26 Ahmedabad serial blasts, the police decided to segregate the arrested SIMI leaders.
Earlier this week, Nagori was shifted to Rewa Central Jail while other SIMI leaders are being shifted to jails across Madhya Pradesh. Rewa Central Jail has also been converted into a maximum security prison.
Sources said records of all those who met Nagori, his associate Shibly or other SIMI leaders during the past four months in the Indore Jail are being scrutinized. The Indore police on Tuesday arrested Aman Raza, son of Mohammad Salim from the Chhoti Gwaltoli area. Indore SP R K Chaudhary claimed Raza is a SIMI worker and was trying to release the arrested SIMI leaders.
"Raza has been actively seeking legal help to release Nagori and his associates. He has been previously arrested several times for SIMI-related activities. We have information that he was working at reorganising SIMI after the arrest of its top-brass ,'' Chaudhary said.
The police claimed that Raza attended a SIMI training camp in Gawali village, 35 km from Indore. SIMI literature and incriminating documents have been found connecting Raza to SIMI, police claimed.
A five-member team of the Gujarat police is in Ujjain district interrogating a number of people on SIMI activities. Nagori and another SIMI top leader Ameel Pervez are from this region.
