AHMEDABAD: A 23-year-old allegedly kidnapped a 13-month-old girl after the baby’s mother rejected his advances.
The police have arrested the accused and retrieved the baby.
Nikol inspector K D Jat said the child’s mother filed a complaint stating that Prakash Dantani had kidnapped her 13-month-old.
The complaint, registered on Tuesday, includes charges under IPC Sections 363 (kidnapping), 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent to wrongfully confine a person), and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt).
She told police that Dantani had abducted her baby to force her to divorce her husband and marry him.
Dantani, who stays in Vastral, hails from Bawla.
According to the complaint, Dantani forced the complainant and her two children, aged four years, and 13 months, to get on his motorcycle on Friday.
He allegedly took them to the city’s eastern part, where he dropped off the complainant and her four-year-old daughter after assaulting her.
Jat mentioned that following the complaint, the police reviewed CCTV footage, alerted their personnel, and utilized technical surveillance.
Additionally, they sought assistance from the crime branch, local surveillance teams, and the cybercrime squad, ultimately apprehending the accused from Ramol area of the city.
During the police investigation, it was revealed that Dantani kidnapped the three when the complainant refused to accompany him.
He later dropped off the mother and the four-year-old, believing the woman would agree to his demand to rescue her 13-month-old baby.
