AHMEDABAD: Moving beyond regular postal and banking operations, Gujarat Postal Circle will soon set up a Post Shoppe, which will sell products ranging from stationery to souvenirs and books and gift items in there. The Post Shoppe is aimed at bringing various items of selected utility products on sale under one roof.
“We are looking at different business arrangements. After its successful opening in Bangalore, Chennai and Jammu, we plan to introduce Post Shoppe in Gujarat, where we will sell all kind of items,” said Brigadier Sanjeev Thapar, chief postmaster general, Gujarat Postal circle.
Gujarat post will initially open Post Shoppe in Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Rajkot. “These Post Shoppe will be set up within the premises of existing
post offices, which have good footfall. It will be a kind of modern post office,” added Thapar.
Items such as photo frames, pens, markers, gum, books, mugs and even a collection of HMT watches are currently being sold in existing Post Shoppe in other cities in the country. These and other items like CD/DVDs, pen drives and philately items will also be sold in Post Shoppe, which will be set up in Gujarat.
“We had set up a Post Shoppe during Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2015. We are looking for tie-ups with Gandhi Ashram and various institutions for selling souvenirs, books and other items,” said Thapar.
The first Post Shoppe is likely to come up at general post office (GPO) in Ahmedabad.
