Military bases in state plan clean, green drive

Military bases across Gujarat, including those at Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Bhuj, Aundh, Jamnagar and Dhrangadhra, have organized ‘Swachhata Pakhawada’, from December 1 to December 15. The initiative is aimed at promoting cleanliness to meaningfully contribute to ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’.

AHMEDABAD: Military bases across Gujarat, including those at Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Bhuj, Aundh, Jamnagar and Dhrangadhra, have organized ‘Swachhata Pakhawada’, from December 1 to December 15. The initiative is aimed at promoting cleanliness to meaningfully contribute to ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’.
Around 10,000 army personnel, their families, schoolchildren and NCC cadets will be participating in a series of lectures on conservation of environment, need for cleanliness and sanitation and waste disposal measures for hazardous/infectious waste, among others.

It will also involves activities such as a demonstration of how organic manure is prepared, and vermiculture, cleanliness drive by students/NCC cadets and municipal corporations in the vicinity of the base.
All armed forces personnel, along with their families, have taken upon themselves to contribute to a clean and green India.
