Admission to medical and dental courses are given on the basis of the marks in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Officials of the Admission Committee for Professional Under Graduate Medical Courses (ACPUGMEC) said that cutoffs in management quotas are also likely rise by 31-50 marks.

Officials comparing the merit list last year with this year’s said that if the same trend continues, the admissions in BJ Medical College will stop at general rank of 163 and the NEET score would be 565. This was 557 marks last year. This would mean that the admission in BJ Medical college would end at eight marks higher than that last year.

Similarly, admissions in government colleges would end this year at 490 NEET score against 474 marks in 2017.

The officials said that last year the last student was admitted in Parul Institute of Medical Science and Research and the admission ended at 350 marks. However, if the same trend continues it is likely to end at 393 marks, 43 marks higher than in last year.
