Six held in Naranpura with mephedrone worth 26 lakh

Ahmedabad: The special operations group (SOG) of the crime branch arrested six people and seized 256.86 grams of mephedrone (MD) drug valued at Rs 25.69 lakh. The SOG officials said that during an anti-narcotics operation in the city, they received information that Mustakim Sheikh, a resident of Fatehwadi, was involved in the mephedrone trade.
Sheikh had been procuring a large quantity of mephedrone from a man named Mohammad Khan, a native of Madhya Pradesh, who visited Ahmedabad to deliver the consignment at Elephanta Society in Naranpura.
Based on the tip-off, the SOG team conducted a raid at Elephanta Society and seized the contraband. The cops arrested Sherjamal Pathan, 40, a resident of Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh; Mustakim Sheikh, 27, a resident of Jamalpur; Dhruv Patel, 33, a resident of Naranpura; Aijaz Sheikh, 37, a resident of Shahpur; Abrar Khan Pathan, 30, a resident of Jamalpur; and Jigneshbhai Pandya, 56, a resident of Elephanta Society.
The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) registered a case under the NDPS Act. Preliminary interrogation revealed that Mustakim, the accused, had been procuring large quantities of MD from Mohammad Khan Pathan and selling them in Ahmedabad.
Summoned by Mohammad Khan Pathan, Mustakim travelled to Rajasthan to collect the consignment from Sameer, a resident of Pratapgarh. They both returned to Ahmedabad and were assisted by Dhruv, Aijaz, Abrar Khan and Jignesh in selling MD for a commission.
