Both Sarkouhee and Khalid were allegedly killed on board Henry II by other crew members, once they decided to double-cross the owner of the ship, Syed Al Mehmood Moniri, an Iranian national. and change their destination to India instead of Egypt. Top police sources said earlier they had found a duplicate copy of the boarding list from the ship in July when it was intercepted by the Indian Coast Guard off Gujarat Coast.
“However names of Sarkouhee and Khalid were struck off the list. It could have been hard to establish the murders for us if we failed to get the original list made at Dubai port, which substantiates presence of both victims on the ship, ” said an investigator.
Sources close to the investigation said the original boarding list includes the names of Captain Suprit Tiwari, Murtuza Sarkouhee, Manish Patel, Dinesh Yadav, Vinay Yadav, Khalid Mohammed Hassan, Anurag Sharma, Munish Kumar, Devish Kumar and Sanjay.
According to investigators, the eight crew members including Captain Suprit, later confessed that Sarkouhee and Khalid, who were on board to keep an eye on them, were murdered after the ship changed course to India. The new plan was to sell the Rs 6,500 crore worth narcotics for Rs 150 crore to one Vishal Yadav of Mumbai.
“Mustufa, a drug addict, was first pushed off the deck into the sea near the Gulf of Oman. Khalid, who later retaliated and started wielding a long knife was overpowered, tied and thrown into the sea at the same place. Then the ship changed its course from Egypt to India,” said a senior police official. All eight crew members and three others including Vishal Yadav, Irfan Shaikh and Suprit’s brother Surjit Tiwari were arrested and are in judicial custody. Eight crew members are also booked for murder of Sarkouhee and Khalid.
