A 30-year-old man, identified as Mohammed Arif Shaikh, was stabbed to death and his body dumped in a pumping station water tank.

AHMEDABAD: A 30-year-old man, identified as Mohammed Arif Shaikh, was stabbed to death and his body dumped in a pumping station water tank. Danilimda police station officials arrested Sameer Shaikh, the deceased's friend, for the murder and trying to destroy evidence in the case.
According to police officials, they got a call from pumping station watchman on Friday morning when he observed blood spots near the underground water storage tank.

When the body was fished out, the locals identified him.
"The body had 14 stabs inflicted by a sharp weapon. During investigation, we got to know that Arif and Sameer were friends. We got suspicious about Sameer and detained him for questioning," said PG Patel, inspector of Danilimda police station.
Officials then got to know that Sameer and Arif were addicted to charas. When Arif threatened Sameer of exposing him, he planned to kill his friend. Sameer later confessed that he took Arif to the pumping station at 2.30 am on Friday and after consuming charas, stabbed him and dumped his body.
"Sameer has sustained injuries during the scuffle. He has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Arif is survived by his wife and two children,"
