AHMEDABAD: City police arrested Vijay Mistry, 27, a resident of Vijapur, for sending lewd messages to the mother of his friend.
Police sources said Mistry runs a mobile repair shop and operated social media accounts using various identities.
“One identity he used was by the name Miral Shah. He uploaded a random girl’s photo as the display picture and started chatting with a relative,” said a police official.

However, when Mistry was asked by the relative about how he (Mistry) knew him, Mistry as ‘Miral Shah’ said ‘she’ was the man’s mother’s friend.
Mistry then asked for his mother’s photo and her cell number. “Mistry liked the photo and then began sending lewd messages to the man’s mother’s cell phone,” said a cyber-cell official.
Later, a complaint was lodged at the cyber cell recently. “We then got the IP address of the device from which the messages were sent. However, as Mistry used to put his sim card in cell phones that came for repair at his shop, we couldn’t ascertain his identity,” said a cyber-cell official.
Assistant commissioner of police, K N Patel said they then found the location from which the calls and chats were being made and then zeroed in on Mistry.
