Man jumps off police station

A 37-year-old man, Manoj Parmar, jumped off the first floor of a building that houses the Javeriwad police chowky.

AHMEDABAD: A 37-year-old man, Manoj Parmar, on Thursday morning jumped off the first floor of a building that houses the Javeriwad police chowky. He sustained head injuries. Parmar had been detained for suspicious behaviour when he took two school boys of New Education High School for a movie.
Navin Prajapati, one of the boys' father, accompanied his son Mohit to his school on Thursday and nabbed Parmar, who was standing outside the school.

Parmar had taken Mohit Prajapati, 10, who lives in Manek Chowk area and his classmate Chirag Prajapati to watch a movie without intimating their parents or school authorities.
Usually Mohit, a class V student returns home by 11.15 am from school everyday. However, on Wednesday, he did not return home until 1 pm. When Mohit's anxious parents quizzed him, he told his father that an uncle' had taken him and his classmate Chirag for a movie, who had also bought them wafers and chocolates. Navin works in a courier company.
Parmar was taken to the police station for questioning. But, the police station was deserted as the police sub-inspector and other police personnel were busy with security arrangements for board exams in a nearby school. Taking advantage of this, Parmar broke free and jumped off the first floor. He sustained head injuries and his has a fractured leg and was rushed to VS Hospital.
"Parmar works as a drummer with Sharma music band in Manek Chowk. He claims that he regularly comes for morning film shows and took the boys for a film when they requested. Parmar has also said that he has not misbehaved with the children. However, we are trying to probe when he fled the hospital where he was taken for treatment. It is possible the man had some other pervert motives," said Kalupur police station officials, who are investigating the matter.
