Ahmedabad shocker: Man fires six rounds at in-laws’ home after quarrel with wife; accused detained
AHMEDABAD: Panic spread in Subhash Society near Vijay Crossroads on Sunday afternoon after a man fired six rounds following a quarrel with his wife. According to police, the woman was staying at her parents' house in the society when her husband arrived to meet her. The couple reportedly argued inside the house before the man walked out and opened fire outside.
Police said the accused, identified as Rahul Soni, came to the area in his car carrying a revolver and a 12-bore gun. Around 3.30pm, after an argument with his wife, he allegedly fired one round inside the compound of the bungalow and another near the gate, followed by four more rounds. Residents, who were at home due to the weekend, rushed out on hearing the gunshots.
The incident took place outside Bungalow No.16 in Subhash Society, where Soni's in-laws reside. Preliminary investigation suggests that Soni placed both weapons on the seat of his car before entering the house to meet his wife. After the argument, he returned to the vehicle, picked up the firearms, and began shooting.
A forensic team was called in to examine the scene. Investigators recovered several empty cartridges from the spot and carried out videography of the location in the presence of the house owner, Soni's father-in-law. The weapons and the vehicle were seized for further examination.
Police said Soni is being questioned about the source of the weapons and the motive behind the firing. Further investigation is underway.
DCP Zone-1 Harshad Patel said that Gujarat University police will lodge an FIR in the case.
