AHMEDABAD: A man from the Chandkheda area of the city on Saturday attacked three employees of the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) as the electricity company cut the power supply to his house for not paying a bill of Rs 1,206 for two months.
Dharmendra Makwana, 48, a resident of Chandkheda who works as deputy engineer with the dub-divisional office of UGVCL, said in his FIR that the accused Pravin Kushwaha also vandalized their office located on the ground floor of Nakshatra Mall in Chandkheda.
Makwana said in the FIR with Chandkheda police that a staff member, Kamlesh Barot, called him up and said that Kushwaha broke the glass of bill counter. Due to this, a woman employee Neha Jadhav, who was sitting at the counter, suffered injuries as the glass shards pierced her face.
Later, Kushwaha barged into the office and began damaging tables and other articles with a steel pipe. When Barot and another employee Anish Patel tried to stop him, Kushwaha attacked them too.
UGVCL employees along with some other people overpowered him and later, a team of Chandkheda police reached the spot and held Kushwaha.
Inquiring about Kushwaha, the UGVCL officers found that he was living as a tenant in Shashwat Zealous Apartments in Chandkheda and he did not pay the light bill of Rs 1,206.
The UGVCL had on Saturday morning disconnected his power supply which irked him and he attacked the electricity company’s employees.
