‘Make young ones limber up for stronger India’

A large number of citizens of all age groups participated in the event. Gujarat deputy CM Nitin Patel, MoS (home) Pradipsinh Jadeja, MoS (women and child development) Nirmala Wadhwani, and Auda chairman Bhupendra Patel were among the participants.
Ramdev said that the young generation must be introduced to yoga for holistic development of their mind and body.
“They will help make India stronger and better,” he said. “Sages of India have studied major physical ailments and have devised relevant asanas to cure or prevent them. I am happy about the participants’ vigour in Ahmedabad.”
Ramdev said that on Tuesday, participants would be able to observe the feats human bodies can perform when surya namaskar for a prolonged period and other exercises are demonstrated.
Three world records claimed
On Monday, organizers claimed that three new world records had been set: the longest time in shirshasan (upside down) position, most push-ups in 1 minute and the fastest 1,000 push-ups. A Government of Gujarat press release said that a team of Jaypal Prajapati and Gopal Dangi, natives of Rajasthan and Mohan Shankar Thakre, a native of Maharashtra, performed shirshasan for 3 hours, 33 minutes and 33 seconds. The earlier record was held by Prajapati who held the position for 2 hours and 51 minutes. Aditya Brahmachari of Patanjali Yogapeeth, Uttarakhand, performed 157 push-ups in 1 minute, breaking the record of 138 push-ups. Likewise, Dinesh Kumar, from Uttar Pradesh, performed 1,000 push-ups in less than 12 minutes, breaking the record of 26 minutes.
Treat for children
About 1.5 lakh school and college students from institutions in and around Ahmedabad will be a part of the June 21 celebrations. Arrangements have been discussed with universities and DEOs, said state government officials. Majority of the participating schools will be represented by 30 to 50 students, they said.
