AHMEDABAD: City crime branch on Sunday nabbed a notorious gunrunner Zeesanraza Shaikh, 32 — a ladies tailor by profession — with three country made fire arms including a pistol. Crime branch officials said they have also recovered an empty magazine and ten live cartridges of different calibers from him.
Deputy commissioner of police Deepan Bhadran said during interrogation Shaikh, a resident of New Faizal Park at Narol, confessed that he used to bring weapons from Uttar Pradesh at cheap price and sell it to his acquaintances at a higher price.
Crime branch sources said Shaikh a native of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh had come to the city about eleven months ago and started a ladies tailor shop at Shah-e-Alam.
“We are interrogating him to know if he is in possession of other weapons or not. We are also verifying who are persons to whom he sold the fire arms,” said a senior crime branch official.
