Karnavati Club election: 30 candidates are in the fray

AHMEDABAD: In the high stakes game of Karnavati Club elections scheduled on December 15, the major contest is expected between past president Girish Dani versus Member Power Panel. The final list of candidates was announced on Tuesday evening for the posts of 10 board of directors of the club. A total of 30 candidates are in the fray.
“The scrutiny committee has finally declared the names of the 30 candidates, whose forms have been found valid.As far as the contest is concerned, there will be greater clarity by Friday, which is the deadline for withdrawing nominations,” said Jayesh Modi, president, Karnavati Club.
The members who are contesting the club elections include, past president of the club, Girish Dani along with Ajay Patel, Ajay Thakkar, Amit Shah, Anil Shah, Ashish Patel, Ashish Thakkar, Ashishkumar Amin, Ashit Vora, Ashok Shah, Bhavesh Vaghasia, Bhavin Thakkar, Chetan Patel, Hasmukh Shah, Hitendra Patel, Jagdish Chaudhary, Jignesh Shah, Kinnar Shah, Manoj Varma, Manoj Chaudhari, Mitesh Patel, Nagin Patel, Paresh Patel, Prashant Shah, Prince Bhuptani, Satish Shah, Shaishav Shah, Sharadkumar Patel, Shyamsundar Vasani and Vashishth Varma.
The announcement of the final list of candidates was deferred by two days, due to issues with clearance of cheques submitted by certain members and also because of the issue with the name of a certain candidate.
Inner circles of the club reveal that there is likely to be a major tug of war, with Girish Dani coming into the fray. When contacted, Dani said, “I haven’t visited the club in the past three years and thus, I cannot say what is going on. I will visit the club and then decide. I don’t want to make any baseless allegations against anyone.”
Sources said that while the incumbent panel has been trying to win brownie points over the new club premises that would come up, Dani is expected to encash on the alleged dissent against the club management.
