AHMEDABAD: There will be no elections at Karnavati Club this time around, as all the 11 directors of the club have been elected uncontested, club officials confirmed. A total of 15 nomination forms were submitted until Saturday for the club elections. While two members withdrew nominations on Saturday, itself, two more withdrew on Monday – the deadline to withdraw nominations.
This left exactly eleven members for eleven posts of directors.
Three new members who will now be part of the club’s board include Silva Patel, – who is the only woman on board among the 11 directors newly elected – along with Niki Patel, who is the son of hotel owner
Ashok Patel – a former Dani supporter – and veteran club member, Nimesh Patel.
“I am very happy to be the only woman on board and I look forward to the journey ahead,” said Silva.
Other members who were elected uncontested include club president, Jayesh Modi, along with Amrish Patel, Vijay Mehta, Nilesh Desai, Dhaval Barot, Bhavesh Patel, Manoj Patel, Dr Sanjay Gandhi and Ketan Patel.
Sharing his views, Nimesh Patel, said, “The decision by some of the members to withdraw forms is in the club’s interest, as it will save both expenditure and time of the members. Barring the last two years, I’ve served the club for 15 years and will always be ready to do so.”
The posts of all the 11 directors will be finalized after the club’s annual general meeting on September 16.
