Jilted lover arrested for making fake social media profile of girl

AHMEDABAD: Nilesh Patel, 36 resident of Uma Bhakti flats in Asarwa-father of two children wanted to make friends with a 22-year-old girl living in the same locality. Patel made unsuccessful attempts to woo the girl for four months. However as the girl did not even gave him a look, Patel a plumber by profession decided to teach the girl a lesson.
“Patel made a fake social media profile of the girl from his cell phone and started uploading her pics along with obscene videos.He also sent friend requests to many males to defame the girl” said assistant commissioner of police, Rajdeepsinh Zala.
It did not take long for the girl to know as calls started pouring in on her cell phone with obscene demands. “Even some of her relatives who saw social media profile informed her about the contents. They had no other choice but to approach us” said inspector JS Geddam of cyber cell.
Geddam added that they immediately swung into action and wrote to the service provider of the social media platform to provide them with the IP address of the device from which the fake profile was made and pics were uploaded.
“Soon we got the information of the IP address which was of the cell phone belonging to Patel. We summoned him for questioning. He broke down during interrogation and confessed before us to have made the fake social media profile to defame the girl who had turned down his friendship request. We have arrested Patel under sections of IT act”, added Inspector Geddam.
