Jharkhand to double tussar silk output

GANDHINAGAR:

Jharkhand

state has decided to double its

tussar silk production

from the existing 2,600 metric tonnes. A special sari park has been set up in the state to produce around 26kg of tussar silk daily.

This was announced by Sanjay Seth the chairman of

Jharkhand State Khadi Khadiudhyog Board

. Speaking at the seminar on Jharkhand at the Textile India event in Gandhinagar, Seth said that around 3,700 MT of tussar is produced in the country, of which Jharkhand’s share was 2,600 MT. He also said that the state could perform ground breaking ceremony of companies that signed

MoUs

in February. The state could manage all permission and even land within 100 days.

Seth said that GST was a road ahead for India as over 50% of the business was done without any legal sanction. He said that the ‘parchi’ system was prevalent it was because of this that GST could not be implemented for over 25 years. Gautam Nair, an industrialist from Jharkhand said, “Of the 9,000 textile industries which export their produce, around 98% had less than Rs25 crore transaction and only four to five had over Rs1,000 crore transaction.
