Italian intern case: Soni to be probed

Ahmedabad: Two months after an Italian architect, 22, who was an intern with an international award-winning firm, was molested by a motorcycle-borne man near SPV Enclave in Bodakdev, the Vastrapur police investigating the case have not yet found any clue in that incident. Now, the cops suspect that the accused Ankit Soni, 29, who was caught in the molestation case of the doctor, could be behind molestation of the Italian woman.

On Tuesday morning, the Vastrapur police issued a statement saying that “they had nabbed an accused man who had molested a doctor on Sunday morning within hours”, but they did not get any details about the accused in Italian woman’s molestation case.

On asked, DCP Zone-1, P L Mal, said, “We have not yet traced that accused as there were no CCTV footage in the area and the accused had worn a helmet when he molested the Italian woman.”

Mal said that the cops were also probing the angle of chain snatching or bag snatching but did not come to any conclusion. “We have reported various cases of chain-snatching and cellphone snatching at the place where the Italian woman was molested but the victim continued to stress that she was molested and there was no loot attempt,” he said.

He stressed that Soni was in Bodakdev area at the time when the Italian woman was molested. Mal, however, said that the cops were yet to investigate more into Soni’s role in the Italian woman’s molestation case.
