Ismail Darbar joins BJP

Composer and violinist, Ismail Darbar, a native of Surat district, formally joined the Gujarat BJP on Tuesday.

AHMEDABAD: Composer and violinist, Ismail Darbar, a native of Surat district, formally joined the Gujarat BJP on Tuesday. Earlier he had expressed his desire to join the BJP aftermeeting chief minister Narendra Modi. Talking to reporters hereafter joining the party Darbar said, "I have no political desire to contest anyelections. I am here to serve the people of Surat. This was the dream of mymother who passed away couple of years ago."He said that to servepeople one needs to be on the side which has power and in Gujarat, the BJP hasthe power. "I will stand by the party in every situation and willwork as a true soldier of the party," he told reporters.He added,"My mother always told me that I have earned name, fame and wealth and it wastime to give back to the people of Surat. After meeting Modi, I felt he is notonly a capable leader, but a very good person too." When asked abouthis political ambitions to contest elections in 2012, Darbar said, "If the partywants me to contest I will contest elections and if the BJP wants me to composesongs for the campaign, I will do it."
