Instagram friend rapes doctor in Gurukul hotel

Ahmedabad: A 30-year-old woman from Vatva, who works at a private hospital in Gandhinagar, on Wednesday filed a complaint with Vastrapur police alleging that she was raped by a man from Surat, who she knew for about ten days through Instagram, at a hotel in Gurukul on Monday.
The woman said the accused, Miket Patel, used to follow her on Instagram and had messaged her on July 7.He started chatting with her and she had responded.
On Saturday, Patel introduced a woman friend, Komal Panchal, and her boyfriend, Lakshman Bharwad, to the complainant and all of them they spoke on a video call.
The woman said Panchal told her to meet her at a mall in Gurukul and she went there on Sunday. She said Panchal offered to have her stay in a hotel with her. Panchal told her that as her boyfriend was not in town, she would be staying at a hotel. They then went to a hotel in Gurukul. On Monday morning, when the complainant woke up, she found Bharwad in their room. The complainant said Bharwad told her he had come to give them tea. When the complainant and Panchal were talking to Bharwad, Patel appeared, the FIR states.
After Patel arrived, Panchal and Bharwad left the room saying they were giving them some privacy.
As they left the room, Patel allegedly began molesting the complainant and then raped her. She said that as she resisted, he promised to marry her. When she rebuked him after he had raped her, Patel told her it was his right as he had come all the way from Surat to meet her in Ahmedabad. She then told Panchal about the rape but took Patel’s side.
Panchal and Bharwad told the complainant not to tell anyone about the rape. She filed a complaint of rape and abetment against Patel, Panchal and Bharwad.
