Illness keeps Rohith's mother from rally

AHMEDABAD: Mother of Rohith Vemula, the dalit scholar who killed himself at the University of Hyderabad in January, and his friend D Prashanth did not take part in the mega sammelan on Sunday.

Both of them were expected to take part in the meeting . While their presence was confirmed till two days ago, members of Una Dalit Atyachar Ladat Samiti (UDALS) claimed that Vemula's mother, Radhika, could not attend the meeting because of her ill health. UDALS member Kaushik Parmar, who was co-ordinating Radhika's visit, told TOI, "She was not in a condition to attend the rally due to her health."
