Ahmedabad: This seem a little far-fetched, but a hotel which was closed after an incident of gangrape, has been sealed by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) in the "interest of public health".
On June 6, health department officials of Danilimda ward put a seal on the main gate and three internal doors of Hotel Silver Spring at Shah-e-Alam Toll Naka.

The officials who sealed the building wrote in the panchnama that the action was taken upon telephonic instructions from the deputy health officer of AMC (South Zone), and that it was done in the interest of public health. This hotel's license was cancelled by city police last year after the incident of gangrape on July 26, 2015. The license was cancelled because of a violation of the police notification that no customer should be given a room without obtaining a copy of his identity proof.
The hotel owners' request for restoring the license was declined and the appeal was also turned down by the city police commissioner on May 30.
