HC notice to govt over plea to cancel bail of accused in gangrape case

Ahmedabad: Justice M R Mengdey on Wednesday issued a notice to the state govt and a trustee of DB Kanya Chhatralaya at Atkot in Rajkot district over a petition seeking the cancellation of bail for a man accused in a gang rape case. The petition was filed by the victim through her lawyer.According to the case details, a woman working as a rector in the girls' hostel filed an FIR alleging sexual exploitation against three trustees of the institution, including Paresh Radadiya. A sessions court in Rajkot granted bail to Radadiya, after which the complainant approached the HC challenging the lower court's order.For the complainant, advocate Anand Yagnik submitted that the victim filed an application for a grant of hearing, but she did not get any opportunity to oppose the bail plea of the accused. Later, it was found that the victim was made a party to the proceedings, but no notice from the court was served upon her. Atkot police intimated her about the hearing on the bail plea of the accused just a day before.
