HC intervention gets 10 students their degrees

AHMEDABAD: It was only after the Gujarat high court’s intervention that

Gujarat Technological University

(GTU) on Friday promised 10 students, who had passed their MCA and BCA courses, their degrees. Six students who had secured admission at LJ Institute filed a petition in the high court through advocate Kiran Shah, who submitted that GTU offered a five-year integrated BCA-MCA course.

After the completion of three years, the university was supposed to give them BCA degrees and at the end of five years, the MCA degree. However, the university had not given the degrees to students of LJ Institute and they were facing uncertainty in their careers as they could get admission to other institutes.

GTU told the HC that the issues between the college and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) have been resolved and the students will get the documents they need, including provisional degrees and marksheets, upon submitting applications, by August 29.
