Talking to reporters on Monday, he said that he was quitting because the party failed to fulfil the demands of the Patidars as promised. “I had joined the party because BJP-led Gujarat party had taken some good decisions. These included forming a Patidar Ayog, compensation to those killed in Patidar Anamat Andolan, withdrawal of cases. But despite big announcements, nothing has been done on the ground,” he added.

Savani further said that the BJP-government is trying to buy time as the model code of conduct will soon be implemented in the state and once the BJP comes to power, it will again forget the Patidar community,” added Savani.

During the press conference, he also claimed that the BJP is offering

Patidar leaders

hefty amounts to switch their loyalties. Savani further added, “Narendra Patel comes from a very low income family. He was offered Rs 1 crore but he chose the community. I thank him for refusing the offer.”

Savani added, “The BJP is just showing lollipop to Patidars and if I still remain with BJP my people will not forgive me. I might have differences with Hardik Patel but our ultimate goal is same,” said Sawani.
