Gujarat: Truck hits car in Anand, 6 die on the spot

VADODARA: Six persons, said to be from same family, died on the spot after meeting an accident near

Anand district

on

National Highway

(NH)-48 on Sunday afternoon.

According to police sources, the deceased including two men, three women and a child – all of whom were travelling in their private car.

Police sources suggest that all the deceased are residents of Bharuch district and were on their way to Bharuch from Anand when they met the accident.

The accident happened when a fast moving dumper truck which was on the wrong side hit the car in which the deceased were traveling, police officials who rushed to the spot told TOI.

The cops have identified two of the six deceased including Vidhi Patel, owner of the car and Hardik Patel, her husband.

While the bodies have been shifted to

Vasad primary health centre

for post-mortem, relatives of the deceased have been informed about the fatal accident and are said to be on their way to Anand.

"As of now, we have come to know that two of the deceased, were residents of Jadeshwar area of Bharuch. While we are carrying out the process of identifying other dead bodies,” said an official, adding that 108 emergency ambulance service had also reached the accident spot.

Vasad police is in the process of registering an FIR against driver of the dumper truck who has fled from the spot after the incident.
