The Gujarat cricket association (GCA) umpires academy successfully completed three years on August 25, 2014. In these three years the academy has reached great heights in umpiring by improving the standard of cricket and umpiring in particular.

AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat cricket association (GCA) umpires academy successfully completed three years on August 25, 2014. In these three years the academy has reached great heights in umpiring by improving the standard of cricket and umpiring in particular. In the last three years the academy has received registration of more than 1200 candidates from different parts of Gujarat and also some parts of India. Qualified candidates from this academy have been part of many tournaments in Gujarat and have successfully done their job with honesty and sincerity as umpires. The launch of the academy’s web site gave a fillip to the institution as they started receiving enquires for registration from different parts of India and abroad. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have also appreciated the lead taken by the GCA in this direction. The candidates of the academy were also fortunate to learn many nuances of the game from some of the best known names in the game like Sachin Tendulkar, Tony Hill, Alem Dar, David Boon, Roshan Mahanama etc who visited the academy whenever they were in the city for some assignments.
