GANDHINAGAR: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday re-organised the

state Congress

and announced in New Delhi a jumbo-sized list of office-bearers for the

Gujarat

unit of the party. Gujarat Congress will now have 10 new vice-presidents; 14 new general secretaries; 7 new spokespersons; and 63 secretaries. The list also announced the long-awaited of appointment of 13 city and district presidents of the party.

Former Gujarat Congress president Siddharth Patel has been made the chairman of the assembly election campaign committee, while former president Arjun Modhwadia has been made the election publicity and material committee chairman. National spokesperson Shaktisinh Gohil has been appointed election media committee chairman.

Rajya Sabha MP Madhusudan Mistry has been appointed the chairman of the election manifesto committee.

Vadodara royal family scion Satyajit Gaikwad and Thakor community leader Jagdish Thakor have been appointed vice-presidents. Further, senior leaders Pravin Rathod, Babu Mangukia, Vajirkhan Pathan, Keshmira Munshi, Jashodaben Parmar, Bhikhubhai Varotariya, Dhirubhai Gajera and Punabhai Gamit have been appointed vice-presidents. Naresh Raval has been made chairman of election co-ordination committee for urban areas. The party has tried to give maximum representation to Patidars; Thakors and other OBCs; besides dalit, Muslim and tribal communities. Ami Yagnik, Badruddin Sheikh, Jayrajsinh Parmar, Kailash Gadhvi, Rajan Priyadarshi (retd IPS), Paranjayadityasinh Parmar and Naishadh Desai are the new spokespersons.
