Gujarat braces for 42°C+ days

Ahmedabad: Temperatures are expected to rise in Gujarat over the next few days, with hot and humid conditions likely in coastal areas on Friday and Saturday. According to the state forecast, there will be no major change in maximum temperatures over the next 24 hours.Temperatures are then expected to rise gradually by 2 to 3 degrees over the following three days, before falling by 2 to 3 degrees across the region. Four places in the state recorded maximum temperatures of 42 degrees celsius or above. Rajkot was the hottest at 42.7°C, followed by Amreli at 42.5°C, Surendranagar at 42.1°C, and Kandla at 42°C. In Ahmedabad, the maximum temperature reached 41.5°C, 1.3 degrees above normal, while the minimum was 25.6°C, 0.5 degrees above normal. The IMD has forecast a maximum temperature of around 41°C for the city on Friday. EMRI 108 officials said there has been no major rise in heat-related emergencies so far. However, doctors in the city warned that prolonged exposure to direct heat can lead to heatstroke, dehydration, and other health problems. They have advised citizens to drink fluids regularly, cover their heads, wear light-coloured clothes, and avoid outside food during the summer.
